Did You Know that some Sharks ‘like’ extremely Cold Waters….
….including the Greenland Shark, the Pacific Sleeper Shark, the Porbeagle Shark, Salmon Shark, and the Spiny Dogfish Shark?
Depending on the surface temperature of the ocean areas where they inhabit, sharks can be classified as polar, temperate, or tropical.
The waters of the polar regions near the north and south poles, remain at colder temperatures (below 5° C, 41° F) that can be below freezing. The species of sharks living there have adapted to living under extremely cold waters and ice flows. They are believed to rarely travel or migrate beyond these colder waters.
