Did You Know that Sharks are Carnivorous….
.….and almost only eat other animals? The types of food and prey eaten by sharks is very broad and includes fish, seals, birds, crabs, rays, sea turtles, sea urchins, snails, and even other sharks.
Most sharks only eat live prey but some sharks eat carrion (the decaying flesh of dead animals), like dead whales.
One interesting species, the Bonnethead Shark, has been discovered to also dine on seagrass to meet their nutritional needs, making them omnivores.
