Shark Trivia
Did You Know that some Sharks are even British….
….and call England home despite the temptation to think of them in more exotic locations like the tropics? There are plenty of sharks that populate the British seas including some 40 commonly seen species.
Cornwall is Britain's unofficial shark capital as well as a popular hotspot for tourists because of its beaches. Despite the abundance of sharks and proximity to beachgoers, there have been no unprovoked shark attacks in British waters since records began in 1847.
Some of the more commonly seen shark species in English waters include:
Shortfin Mako Shark
Basking Shark
Blue Shark
Common Thresher Shark
Greenland Shark
Smooth Hammerhead Shark
Porbeagle Shark
Angelshark
