Shark Trivia
Did You Know that a Shark’s Fin….
….keeps a shark the right way up so that they don’t just roll over in the water? It also gives them balance and the ability to both change direction in the water and to slow down.
A typical shark has up to seven fins and five different types of fins; dorsal (first and second), pectoral (left and right), anal, pelvic, and caudal (tail). The tail has a lower and an upper lobe.
Dorsal fins are located on the back of a shark and are the most recognized of all shark fins. They are the fin that you often see “knifing” through the water.
